I just had a call with Ms. Nagwa, the lady from the ministry/supreme council of antiques, who is responsible for the Islamic monuments under restoration in Bulaq Abu Ella… She said someone did this yesterday and people stopped him, even though the place is registered in the ministry as a monument… The current state is:
- Almost all the façade is demolished; the remaining is mainly the internal side
- They are taking legal procedures against him, and he’s already arrested now
- The place will be subject to restoration, and they are trying to take legal action against the guy who did that forcing him to pay for its renovation
